Digital Vs Traditional by JoJoesArt Digital Vs Traditional by JoJoesArt
(I didn't know which category to put it into, so I just took wallpaper ^^ You can download it if you want! :D)

I wanted to make something like this for a very long time! :D This is a comparison of my digital style vs my traditional style.. It is not exactly the same motif, but it's both mermaid realted and they have similar color schemes. I think it is kinda interesting, that my traditional style is much more abstract, while my digital one is rather realistic. ^^

I know, it's hard to compare, as they are really different, but which one do you prefer? My digital or my traditional style? (I wont be sad or disappointed, no matter which one you chose! :D)

It would be really cool, if you did someting like this as well: comparing your digital style to your traditional. Best would be, if you campared two similar pieces. You could even redraw a traditional painting in digital style or vice versa. :) If you come to make such a comparison piece, please put a link in the comments under this painting, because I wanna see it and probably give you a favs# and comment! (Maybe I will even feature the most interesting ones!)

-- Favs and comments are highly appreciated! --

Both are very beautiful and they look kinda similar, indeed. I prefer the colors of the digital style, but I love the magic in the eyes of the traditional one.

Wow! I think both look great but I somehow like the traditional one a little bit more.

Each of the art form are in there own rights the best as they have strengths and weaknesses.
If a artist can do traditional (and you can) and is committed to the time needed then great.
The big advantage of digital is speed of work but too much accuracy is not always a good thing.

I like the draw traditionally and paint over or add effect digitally.
will have a go at that challange

I like the detail and style of the digital one better, but I love how unique and effortless the traditional one looks. Both are fab af

I definatly like your tradisional better, that's because I really don't like the digital one its not that pretty, I like digital and I think you could if you worked on it make the other one in digital!!

I definitely prefer the traditional one! The blues and red contrast much more, and I love all of the intricate white pen work you have done. I feel like it is much more interesting to look at :D

I always wonder about the pros and cons of digital v. traditional work. Doesn't help that I'm biased because all of the work I do is traditional! I try to do digital work but it hurts my eyes and I just don't get how comfortable everyone else is with the drawing pad and all of that.

You do both well!

Digital!!! I love how vibrant the picture is with all the details and everything. It's just so complete!
The traditional piece (to me at least) feels very... empty, I guess.
I love them both though!!! You're amazing!!! <3

I actually prefer the traditional piece. They are both stunning, and simply beautiful to look at, but the traditional piece is less complicated. In the digital piece there's almost too much detail, her face is lovely and the simple, all the attention goes to the eyes and it's eerie at first glance, but after looking away from the eyes there's to much detail to know where to look. It is offset by the easy background, but it still feels chaotic.

In the traditional piece, once again the focus goes right to her eyes, but everything, the details just flows outward like water. It's an amazing affect, she looks like she belongs to the water, like some creature you see in the corner of your eye and vanishes when you turn to look. Maybe it's just me, but I can see a lot more of your talent in the traditional piece, and it looks like you spent longer on her with every line and curl just so to gain the wave like effect.

they seem like two diffrent people completely...

I'm so surprised at how many people commented "traditional"! I prefer the digital by far; it looks so much more professional to me :) Aber naja~ Mich würde interessieren, mit welchem du lieber arbeitest! (Ich nehme an, dass du lieber digital arbeitest, da du wenig traditionelles in deiner Galerie hast ;))

The traditional one, and she is beautiful!!
Skizzenbuch94 Featured By Owner Nov 11, 2012
They both are amazing, but I think i love the traditional one the most, just because I can't believe it's traditional art... How can you do that?!
cande64 Featured By Owner Nov 3, 2012  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
I think both are amazing but im always more inclined to the traditonal, theres an electricity to the traditional that draws you to it and i dont think digital can reflect that same feel to it.

MqvzaAndGx Featured By Owner Oct 2, 2012  Hobbyist General Artist
I prefer your traditional pieces as they are less detailed which I really like. But to be perfectly honest I don't really like the traditional one here (I'm so sorry, because most of your art is stunning I just don't really like her face) so between those two, I find the digital to be the prettiest (:
